What is USB-C?

A USB-C connector is a new, tiny physical connector which supports various new USB standards like USB power delivery and USB 3.1. With its thin size, easy to use plug (reversible), ultra-fast speed (10Gbps) and high power capabilities (100W), it brings much needed innovation to the world of phones, tablets and computers and will soon replace existing USB plugs and ports. In the meantime you can even charge and sync your new Type-C devices with your current laptop and/or charger.

Faster Data Transfer

With USB-C cables, you are able to use USB 3.1 with data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps. This is twice as fast as USB 3.0, which supports 5 Gbps, and twenty times faster than USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps! You will enjoy faster data transfer between your USB-C supporting smartphone, laptop or personal computer. Extremely useful when transferring large files.

Supports Adapters

The USB-C connection on a computer can be used for other types of connections such as HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt. You no longer need different cables and plugs for your smartphone, printer, laptop etcetera. This is called Alternate Mode. Note that you need a computer with support for Alternate Mode to use this feature.

More Power

USB-C can transport up to 100 Watt of power, which is of a significantly greater range than anything you are using right now to charge your phone, tablet or even laptop. USB-C enables devices that are thinner, lighter and capable of charging up more quickly. But their higher power output also enables the bigger-capacity external hard drives that require separate power cords.

Reversible Plug

A USB-C cable can be plugged in no matter which direction you turn it. It always fits! You can plug it in facing up or down, enabling easy, reliable mating. So there is no right or wrong way to insert it anymore. This could also result in fewer scratches around your device's charging port area from trying to plug the cable in your device in the dark.

The USB-C technology brings much needed innovation of syncing and charging to the world of phones, tablets and computers. With special adapters you can even make use of other technologies such as HDMI, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt via the USB Type-C port in Alternate Mode. USB Type-C is the plug for the next generation and Trust is paving the road ahead with the highest quality accessories.
