Circular in 2040

circular

Trust has the ambition to be circular in 2040

We believe in the need for a circular economy, in which discarded products are collected and recycled into raw materials to produce new products. We are working together to test, learn about, and transform our joint processes. Only by engaging with all partners in our value chain we can achieve our long-term social and environmental ambitions.

Our efforts are focused on:

Package reduction

Removing where we can

We removed most plastics, shipping cartons and buffer materials from our packaging.

We have also switched to online manuals for most products. We removed all PVC from our packaging as well as all black plastic which is difficult for waste separation machines to detect.

These efforts resulted in an average plastic reduction per packaging of over 37% percent in fiscal year 2020-2021.

Reducing what we can't remove

Reducing what we can't remove

We reduced the packaging size. This, and the optimisation of pallets resulted in less packaging materials, and in reduced transport emissions.

Many of our products are SIOC-certified. SIOC (‘ships in own container’) is a form of product packaging in which an ordered product can be shipped to the consumer in its original packaging, without additional packaging such as an over box.

Recycling what is left

Recycling what is left

We want to make sustainable purchases accessible by offering a sustainable alternative in every product category. The use of recycled materials is the most viable approach to reducing energy and water consumption and CO2 emissions when compared to virgin materials. The next few items show how we continuously investigate opportunities for improvement.

Recycled plastic

Recycled plastic

Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic is created from consumer waste such as used and cleaned PET bottles. We recently introduced our first PCR plastic product, the THIAN Wireless Gaming Headset, made with 85% recycled plastic. To guarantee the true and sustainable origin of recycled plastics, we have received the Recycled Content Certification from SCS Global Services. With the new smart-home bridge we are transitioning to PCR with production in the EU (Netherlands).

Recycled PET bottles

Recycled PET bottles

For laptop bags and tablet sleeves, Trust has selected RPET (recycled PET or polyester) as a more sustainable alternative. Trust offers a diverse array of products made from recycled PET bottles such as the Atlanta, Bologna and Sydney Laptop Bag ECO – stylish, convenient, and eco-friendly bags made from recycled PET bottles.

Trust is GRS certified. This means the origin of the materials used is verified according to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). When a product receives the GRS label, you can be sure it is indeed created from recycled materials.

Recycled paper

Recycled paper

All of our packaging is made of carton containing 60-80% recycled materials. We replaced plastic hangers with carton models and foam (EPA,EVA) with moulded pulp buffers.

Trust is FSC certified. With this certification, we can guarantee that our carton packaging is made of wood sourced from sustainably managed forests and/or recycled materials. By using more sustainable cartons in our packaging, we are actively contributing to conserving forests worldwide. We are changing packaging cartons, and products containing wood to FSC-certified materials step by step.
